After our times tables challenge, the new topic will be converting units of measure. As we have just seen in our recent SAT orientation week, knowing your units of measure is absolutely vital. You'll need to know the following;
Converting cm into metres (you divide by 100 so 1m = 100cm)
Converting metres into cm (you multiply by 100 so 100cm = 1m)
Converting mm into cm (divide by 10 so 10mm = 1cm)
Converting cm into mm (multiply by 10 so 1cm = 10mm)
Converting mm into metres (divide by 1000 so 1000mm = 1 metre)
Converting metres into mm (multiply by 1000 so 1 metre = 1000mm)
You will also need to know how to convert units of capacity, time and mass (weight) so be ready as this task will be issued on Monday September 23rd and the tests will be...
Test 1; Monday 30th September
Test 2; Monday 7th October

Cricket in the classroom day - Wednesday September 18th
On Wednesday of this week, Year 6 were honoured to be invited to Headingley Carnegie stadium - home of the Leeds Rhinos, Leeds Carnegie RUFC and of course... Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The day began at 09:00 with a bus trip to Headingley and some truly terrible singing from some children in our class who shall remain nameless.
The day began with a tour of the stands, then a quiz followed with green zappers. Elle Bailey managed 14 / 14 on the quiz and Mr Riley managed to come 21st with a mighty 9 points. He will be doing his detention next week for this terrible score.
After the quiz came a superb cricket lesson in the professional team training area, followed by a VIP tour of the new £23 million Carnegie Pavillion so all in all a fantastic day out!
